Wanting to consolidate two smaller shoe racks, including one that was overflowing in the garage, we researched the various inexpensive options. We knew we didn't want anything made out of plastic (because it would eventually break), or the expandable kind with overlapping metal tubes (that invariably sag).

We bought three of these 3-tier, stackable shoe racks, and could not be happier. The only tool you will need is possibly a pair of scissors to open the box and cut the strap that holds the shelves together during shipping. Taking my time, it took less than an hour to assemble all three, put them in place, and load them with shoes (see attached photo).

Each shelf can hold 3 pairs of shoes, even my size 13 clodhoppers. I made the 2nd shelf from the bottom a bit taller for my winter boots by putting the top shelf (of that unit) on the top instead of the shelf support that is 3 inches lower. This meant that the 3rd shelf from the bottom was now only 3 inches tall (instead of the usual 6 inches), but that was still fine for thin sandals.

Assembly is a breeze. I have 2 tips, however. First, you need to put the shelves into the frame at an angle before clicking them into place on the side rails. For whatever reason, the bottom 2 shelves of each unit needed to go in from the left side at an angle, and the top shelf of each unit needed to go in from the right side at an angle. In other words, if one way doesn't work, try the other. My 2nd tip is that some of the clips are harder to attach to the side rails than others (probably due to the plastic inserts in the side clips). When I encountered one of these clips, I would clip this corner first before moving on to the other corners.

I've bought so many shoe racks over the years and put up with a lot of shoddy products. This is the first one that works and can bear to see in public. Solid thoughtful design, feet that adapt to uneven old floor boards, mesh to allow shoes to dry naturally after wearing. This bronze rack is very handsome. I thought that it would end up in the closet but as it turns out, it's now the basis for an elegant and understated display of a young man's fabulous men's shoe collection. Will buy more.

Following up; I bought two more of these and assembled them yesterday. Packing was a lot trickier than I remember but the goods inside are just as great as my previous purchase. Very satisfying to click the parts securely together. The rickety wooden rack is moving on out, good riddance. The only weird part of my purchase is that the price for one was less than half of buying two, there was a maximum of one item, and I did need two.

Well-made product for the cost that has made my coat closet much more elegant and organized.

It fits the space at the back of our closet perfectly the color let that sort of blend into the background. I appreciate that the lowest Shelf is high enough off the ground to fit flat shoes underneath even. We can actually fit four pairs of adults shoes across each row.

It is challenging to get the Shelf onto the frame, the instructions that are written are helpful, but ultimately you really have to Jimmy it in, and maybe kick things in place. All the pieces survived the abuse I gave them in assembly admirably XD. Nothing dented or chipped or scratched, so I'd say this thing is going to last 4 years. To those that have difficulty getting the Shelf on, I recommend trying to swap the order of the shelves, as it seemed to me certain shelves fit into certain positions better. Though, I can't tell if that was by chance or by Design or just in my head.

My one constructive criticism would be that I think the under shelf floor space should be higher to fit walking boots in. We have our heels and seldom worn hiking boots on top, and don't put rain boots or snow boots on the rack at all, because anything taller than a pair of Vans has to go on a higher Shelf and drip all over the things underneath.
